At last week’s LA Art Walk I was stunned when I stumbled upon this truly spectacular mural. It boggles the mind how the artist/s were able to execute a piece so large. Genius.

On a recent trip to Bergamot Station I had the tremendous pleasure of checking out the new work of fascinating photographer, Dan Shepherd, whose Blinded by Science Exhibit is showing at dnj gallery.
Truly an interesting artist, Shepherd is also a scientist, which creates a unique perspective that I think any photography lover would appreciate. To see more of what I mean, check out his artist statement:
Blinded by Science
Some say ignorance is bliss. As a former botanical professional, I find a walk through a garden can be a challenge to just enjoy the colors, shapes and textures when your brain is clouded with scientific plant details. With the ongoing series “Blinded by Science,” I am using the artistic power of abstraction to create images of some of my favorite plants and trees, which help me filter out the science details and let me focus on the pure aesthetic beauty of nature. For this show at dnj Gallery, a selection of images from the trees in NYC’s Central Park is on display.
To see Shephard’s words expressed as art I give you a sampling of this beautiful work:
Shepherd’s show runs through July 21, 2012 at dnj gallery, so make sure you go check it out, it’s worth the trip!

Spending time last weekend at a studio called West Eleven (at the Brewery artists lofts downtown), I had a chance to really soak in the fascinating work of Kim Barry. This is a woman that tells it like it is, and has a lot of work worth checking out.

I had the tremendous pleasure of attending the Brewery Spring Art Walk on Sunday and was blown away by this very talented artist, Sam Kopels. I felt his Landscapes of Los Angeles were stunning and brave. Here are just a few pieces of his work.

Was moved when I saw this beautiful piece at the remarkable TAG Gallery this week. It’s by Stephanie Visser and it reminded me how amazing collage work can be. Kudos Stephanie.
